Best Baccarat Strategy

Baccarat Strategy (Punto Banco)

If you apply the Baccarat strategy correctly, the odds you get are actually very good. Also read the punto banco game rules to understand the game well. You will see that only one particular tactic is the best, and that is a bet on ‘banker' because that way your chances are optimal. The banker option only has a casino advantage of 1.06%, even after the casino commission has been settled. These are better odds than you get with roulette, for example.

The ‘player' bet has a house edge of 1.24 percent, so not as good as a bet on banker but still a lot better than many other casino games.

Where the casino makes a profit, and which are therefore not to have to use the option tie with a casino advantage of less than 14%!

Casino advantage at Baccarat:

  • Banker: 1.06%
  • Player: 1.24%
  • Tie: 14%

Almost all (online) casinos offer baccarat with eight card games, but live you can sometimes also find games with four or six card games. The less card games are used, the better the chances for the player. This is just like blackjack by the way. This is because the house edge diminishes as fewer card decks are used. You should also be able to count cards better, if this is possible at all in a live casino, as the dealer usually places a shot halfway down the deck, then shuffles again and thus only plays with half the deck.

The first thing to know about baccarat strategy is that baccarat is not a game of skill, but the outcome depends purely on randomness, or luck. After you place a bet on either the banker, the player or a tie, the game is further out of your control . Unlike other casino games like blackjack, you cannot make decisions that affect the outcome as you play your hand. However, players choose an option (a bet) here and then watch as the action unfolds. If you are new to the game, we recommend the rules of baccarat first understand, so that you know why you lose or win on certain bets, and then make sure you understand the course of the game itself.

How do I win with online baccarat?

The house edge at baccarat is very player-friendly, it is even the lowest house edge you can find of all casino games (besides craps). The casino has only a 1.4 percent advantage when betting on the banker, which is one of the better odds that you will encounter both online and in live casinos. Here are some other interesting math facts about baccarat:

  • In baccarat, the odds of winning with the player's hand are only slightly lower than the odds of losing with the banker's hand. With the player's hand you will win in 44.62% of the cases. However, with the banker's hand, one loses in 45.85 percent of the cases.
  • Draw is rare, but it happens. The odds of a draw on baccarat are 9.53 percent and the payout on a draw equals 8: 1, but the house has a huge advantage on these bets.
  • If you keep the draw out of the calculation, the banker's hand wins about 51 percent of the time. This one percent is a very marginal advantage, but at least it is slightly better than the chances of flipping a coin. If you are not sure what bet you want to make, always bet on the banker's hand to win.

You don't have to play at Baccarat yourself . All you have to do is place a bet. You can bet on the players (punto or players), the bank (banker or banco) or a tie. You bet on what you think will be the outcome of the game of baccarat played by the dealer.

banker's hand baccaratThe house rules are fixed. For each possible situation, it is therefore described what the dealer must do. The players (punto) and the bank (banco) must get as close as possible to the 9 points. The ace is worth 1 point, the pictures are worth 0 points and the number cards are worth the value of the number. For example, hearts 6 is worth 6 points.

After placing the bets, the dealer places two cards with both players (punto) and the bank (banco).

Then the house rules apply. This means that players (players or punto) are dealt an extra card with a point total of 0 to 5.

Whether the bank (banco or banker) gets an extra card depends not only on the points total of the bank itself, but also on the points total of the players. On the right you have a table with all possible situations and what the dealer should do in that case according to the Baccarat house rules.

Whoever comes closest to the 9 points wins. Are players and the bank equally close to 9 points? Then it is a tie.
