Della Lewis is an 89-year-old resident of South Greensburg, in the US state of Pennsylvania. This aged lady has always had the desire to go to the casino once more. However, due to her walking difficulties, she was unable to take a trip to the casino from her care home Westmoreland Manor. In order to make Lewis's wish come true, the help of a non-profit organization was called in. According to her daughter Patty, Lewis always went to the casino on birthdays. For example, they were used to going to the Meadows Casino together in March and November.
Help from Twilight Wish to fulfill the wish
For fulfilling the wish of Della Lewis, Twilight Wish offered a helping hand. This organization transformed the activity space of the Westmoreland Manor nursing home on a one-off and temporary basis into a mini casino. Even the most beloved Della Lewis fruit machines were added to the game selection during this event. Shortly after Della had eaten her evening meal, she was taken to a room full of slot machines and table games. In addition, a casino-themed cake was arranged to celebrate Della’s daughter's birthday.
More frequent promotions for people at Westmoreland Manor
According to Jamie Bostard, director of Twilight Wish’s Westmoreland, it is no coincidence that Della Lewis was selected. “As a group, we are all involved in some way in healthcare in Westmoreland County. We are happy to help with things that we have a passion for ourselves! ”Bostard grew up as the daughter of the manager of a nursing home. That way she quickly got a good idea of the ups and downs in these nursing homes. “I can't imagine people doing nothing for the elderly. They are fantastic people! If we can do something for them, we would be happy to do this. ”Since its establishment in 2003, the organization has fulfilled the wishes of 2,700 people.
