In Eindhoven, the café boss maintains that there was no question of gambling. Poker would only be played by friends in a friendly atmosphere and also just for fun. The court seems to decide otherwise on 1 August 2017.
Occasionally a game of cards is no problem
The administrative judge himself indicated that, in due course, a game of cards would not be a problem at all. In this case, however, the judge rules differently. The final decision will follow in two weeks.
Lots of money and professional chips
Several notable cases were found in the Zwarte Zee café on the Boschdijk in Eindhoven, as a result of which the court now seems to decide otherwise. For example, more than 30 people were present several times after closing time. According to the café boss, these were only acquaintances and other acquaintances. € 28,000 in cash was also found in the toilet.
No money on the gaming table
Another controversial fact is that there was no money on the gaming table. They played with professional poker tokens with amounts on them. This is remarkable, because friends among themselves who are going to play a game would not normally handle it this way.
Advocate against the conclusion of two months
The lawyer, Marlieke van de Laar, confirms the owner's statement. The activities after closing time were all familiar to the owner. Because it was just after closing time, this would be a confirmation that these are acquaintances of the owner and not, as the municipality suggests, a place for illegal gambling practices.
The decision will take place in 2 weeks, after which the mayor will decide whether or not a 2-month closure will take place.
