The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas must pay $ 100 million in damages if it is owed to O.J. Simpson is set to be announced on 9 January 2018. According to news channel ABC, former football player Simpson is filing a complaint following an expulsion by the hotel staff. The staff would have put Simpson outside the hotel because he had been drinking and disrupting order. Simpson would also have become angry and broke a glass.
Excessive response from the hotel
Malcom LaVergne, the lawyer who O.J. Simpson has engaged for this process, claiming that the Cosmopolitan Hotel has shown excessive behavior. For example, Simpson would have been expelled from the hotel in a much too harsh way, partly because the staff would have racist prejudices. In addition, LaVergne indicates that the camera images of the hotel would have shown that the hotel was acting improperly. The drug and alcohol test that was taken a day later was negative.
Previous prison sentence
It is striking that the former football player had just been released from prison. He had previously been sentenced to prison for, among other things, a raid on two collectors of sports memorabilia and an assault. In their own words, the items that the collectors carried were owned by Simpson itself.
O.J. Simpson has been on trial once, because he was suspected in the 1990s of the murder of his ex-wife and her new boyfriend. He was eventually acquitted for these acts.
