Netent continues to release Eastern versions of their most successful slots.
This time it is the turn of the famous Dead or Alive slot, which gets an Asian makeover.
The theme is somewhat strange to say the least: the bandits from the original have been replaced by five ladies, of whom it is apparently not clear who the bride is.
And to be honest, we don't care.
Although the gameplay of Dead or Alive and especially the super cool bonus round is like a house, we have rarely seen such a mismatch between theme and video slot.
With such a high variance slot there is a cool theme, no nonsense fuss about marrying ladies. Samurai warriors, we wanted to see that. Battles. War. No semi-romantic hassle.
How does the Who’s The Bride slot work?
You play with 9 fixed paylines, which are divided into 5 reels with 3 rows of symbols.
You bet from 0.09 euros per spin and that increases to a relatively modest 18 euros per spin.
That low maximum bet has everything to do with the enormous potential of this slot. With 5 scatters you can already win 2,500 x the total bet and you can win more than 10,000 x the bet during the free spins bonus.
It is therefore clearly a slot with a very high variance. The payment percentage is excellent: 96.82%.
Symbols and payouts
The symbols and their corresponding payouts are really only a side issue at Who’s The Bride ?.
This video slot is all about the free spins bonus and collecting as many sticky wilds as possible.
We therefore do not elaborate on the payment table.
Of the regular symbols, the red sedan (1,000 coins for 5 of the same) and the jewelery box (750 coins) are especially interesting.
The following applies to all other symbols: nice if you pick up a 5-of-a-kind, but that's not the point here.
The free spins bonus: sticky wilds!
The free spins bonus is, "where the magic happens" with this slot.
You need 3 or more scattered nuggets to win 12 free spins.
You receive a number of extras during the free spins:
all wilds (the 5 ladies) are sticky
all winnings are doubled
at least one wild on every reel gives you +5 free spins
The ultimate goal of the game is to create a so-called wild line. A wild line is a 5-of-a-kind of wilds on an active payline and gives you 333 x the total bet per spin.
Do you know how to make one or more wild lines and do you still have a lot of extra spins? Then you can rake a hefty amount every turn. Suppose you play with a bet of 0.90 euros per spin (so 10 cents per line), then you win 300 euros per spin per wild line.
The free spins bonus falls on average once in the 152 spins and once in the 45 bonus rounds you will manage to get all five wilds on the reels and earn +5 free spins. That does not mean that they are all on an active payline!
What do we think of Who’s The Bride?
If we leave aside the debile theme, the game mechanism with the free spins and sticky wilds is naturally very strong.
If we look at the entire package, we can only say: it is a shame that Netent has not opted for a somewhat tougher theme. In that case this could have been a great remake.
3.5 out of 5 stars.
